The shot list
The shot list is a table of shots (one row per shot, with its description, mode, duration, cuts and references) which you review, confirm, and hand to the system as a batch of work.
It has its own page, Scenes & Shots, opened from the project page, and Confirm & compose on it is what fills the project’s batch panel. That press writes each row’s prompt text. It generates no picture and no video.
It belongs to a project, not a brief
Section titled “It belongs to a project, not a brief”A shot list is a work order. Confirming one creates prompts and composes their text, and those need somewhere to land: a project. It is about these forty shots, this cut, this deadline.
A brief, by contrast, describes a world (how it looks, who is in it, where things happen), and one brief can be used by any number of projects (What a brief is). A shot list on a brief would be one shoot’s work order shared across every project using that brief, which is wrong in every case: two productions in the same world do not share a shot list; that is what makes them two productions.
So the brief holds the world and the project holds the work, and the split is not a limitation. It is what the two things are.
How it relates to the brief
Section titled “How it relates to the brief”The shot list reads the brief the project uses. A shot naming a character picks up that character’s description, state and reference pictures; a shot set at a location inherits what that location established; every shot renders in the project’s Look unless it overrides it.
It reads them at the moment you confirm and the work is composed. So the useful order is: get the brief’s blocks confirmed first, then the shot list. A shot list confirmed against an empty Cast produces forty shots that have never heard of your characters, and the fix is to fill the blocks and run it again.
Nothing writes back the other way. Composing a shot never changes the brief.
The models it composes for
Section titled “The models it composes for”The video and image models this project’s shots are composed for sit inside the Brief block on the project page, beside the brief they are composed against, not in a block of their own.
Prompts composed for the project (the shot list, the Workspace) are written to fit that model’s prompt limit. This is project state too, for the same reason the shot list is: two projects using one brief may well generate on different models.
With no model set for the mode, composition uses the default and says so. A shot list confirmed with no video model named is composed, and charged, for the default model, and the page names which model it wrote for.
